I wanted to do something for my readers for Valentine’s Day, so I came up with this free pattern, the Cabled Love Beanie. I made it themed for the holiday, but you can make it in any colors or even one single solid color. It’s a comfy hat that fits snug, and is extremely warm due to using hdc and overlapping the cabled stitches.
Size: Adult 24” Circumference
ST/STS – Stitch/Stitches
FO- Finish Off
Rnd – Round
FPdc- Front Post Double Crochet
BPdc – Back Post Double Crochet
sl st – Slip Stitch
sc – Single Crochet
FPTr – yarn over twice, insert around front of post, yarn over, pull through 2 loops, yarn over, pull through 2 loops, yarn over pull through remaining 2 loops
FPTr Cross- skip 2 stitches, FPTr in next 2 stitches 2 rows below, FPTr in skipped stitches 2 rows below.
For the gauge just make sure the foundation chain that is created fits over your head. If the hat needs to be larger or smaller the final chain number needs to be divisible by 18. The stitch count will be different however you would follow the same steps.
